Jazz up your water by adding slices of lemon, cucumber, mint, or berries to spice up the flavor. Carry a bottle everywhere with you as a reminder to keep drinking. Eat your water as well as drink it; eat lots of raw fruits and vegetables, which are rich in water. When you first start to increase your water intake, you’ll notice that you have to urinate a lot more often. Your body will become more accustomed to drinking more fluids, and the frequent trips to the bathroom should quickly start to result in lighter colored urine. Here are just a few reasons to drink more water. 1. Water helps to boost your energy. Your brain is made up primarily of water and drinking more will make you more alert and give you better clarity of thought. It will help to relieve fatigue and give you a nice energy boost. 2. Hydration promotes weight loss. When you drink lots of water, it will help to clean out your system, flushing out what you don’t need, and helping you to feel more full since a lot of what we interpret as hunger is actually thirst. 3. Water cleans out the toxins. When you drink more water, you have a vehicle to flush toxins out of your system. When you urinate and sweat more, the excess water will carry away the unwanted toxins leaving your body clean and clear. 4. Water is great for your skin. Drinking more water is as simple as making the decision to do it. Then, you just need to do a bit of planning in order to help you achieve your goal. How big is your water bottle, or your usual drinking glass? Figure out how many you’ll need to drink a day to reach your daily goal. Then, break that down to think about how much you need to drink in the morning and in the afternoon so that you aren’t left with 60oz. to drink right before bed!
